Landslide Threatens Turtle Creek Home

TURTLE CREEK, Pa.,None — A landslide that happened Wednesday is threatening a home in Turtle Creek.

The front of a retaining wall collapsed, causing the slide along Negley Avenue.

One engineer told Channel 11 News the porch's foundation has cracks and is structurally unsound. The house itself appears to be fine other than a wall having to be replaced.

Neighbors said an elderly woman who owned the home died about six months ago. The house was sold and has been sitting vacant since, neighbors said.

Neighbor Tamara Nelson said she had a feeling that the slide would eventually happen.

"You see the foundation completely off and is sliding forward," Nelson said. "I knew the gas was cut off and called the police and told them the meter was right here but I was afraid it was going to explode."

No injuries were reported. Officials said the slide most likely happened because of rain.
