2 suspects in shooting outside Washington Co. bar remain on the run

CANTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Authorities in Washington County are looking for two men they said were involved in an argument and shooting with a father and his son outside a Canton Township bar early Thursday morning.

The incident happened about 1 a.m. Thursday near Cozy Corner Bar on the corner of Euclid Avenue and Hickory Alley.

According to police, Robert Sutton, who was working as the bouncer at the bar, and his son, Akili Sutton, got into an argument with several people. During the argument, detectives said 24-year-old Eric Johnson Jr. punched Akili Sutton and knocked him out.

Johnson’s stepbrother, 20-year-old Tevin Heyman, shot the bouncer and then his son in the face while he was on the ground unconscious, police said.

“He then shot the man who was knocked unconscious on the ground once in the face,” Pennsylvania state police Trooper Thomas Schuster said.

A man who said he was friends with the Suttons said he wants everyone to know what nice people they are. “It’s very heartbreaking to hear something like this happening,” the man said. “For something like that to happen, I just don’t know what to say anymore. My prayers are with the Sutton family.”

Glenn Bell told Channel 11’s Dave Bondy that he heard the shots fired from inside his home nearby.

“I rolled out of bed and hit the deck. One of my dogs went to the window but I called him back because I didn’t want him to get shot. You never know where the bullets are going,” Bell said.

Authorities said the entire incident was caught on surveillance footage, and that they’re using the video in their investigation.

Johnson and Heyman remain on the run. Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact police.

Bondy reported that Cozy Corner was briefly shut down in 2008 when it was ruled a nuisance bar.
