Family and friends remember teen killed in triple shooting in Pittsburgh’s Allentown neighborhood

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police are actively investigating a triple shooting in Allentown that left a 17-year-old boy dead and two other people injured Monday evening.

No arrests have been made in the case and the motive is not clear, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials.

“I seen him outside, I give him a hug. He’s like, ‘you good?’ I’m like, ‘yeah, I’m good.’ He asked me if I needed anything. I tell him no,” said Shayla Schmuck of Allentown.

Those were the final words she said to her former Pittsburgh Carrick classmate and friend Isaiah Anderson.

The 17-year-old, who attended the Pittsburgh Student Achievement Center, was shot and killed in Pittsburgh’s Allentown neighborhood just after 6 p.m. Monday evening.

Shayla heard 20 shots outside her window.

“I’ve never seen anybody die, let alone one of my friends, let alone right here where I can see it. So I couldn’t say anything. I seen him looking at me trying to take his last breath, but I couldn’t bring the words out to say anything,” said Schmuck.

There’s now a memorial on the sidewalk along East Warrington Avenue.

Flowers and a rosary rest where Anderson died, just steps from a day care, restaurants and shops.

“It’s a little disheartening to see that incidents like this are happening in broad daylight,” said Dylan Caldwell of Forma Pasta.

A woman in her 50s was grazed in the leg by a bullet, but she is OK.

Police say a 19-year-old man was also shot and rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

“His friend was limping, trying to walk. His other friend was screaming. My mom was screaming trying to tell him to breathe, but he was just gasping for air,” said Schmuck.

Pittsburgh Police told Channel 11 this is another senseless act of violence and they are encouraging the public to come forward.

“If you see something or know something, please say something, contact the police,” said John Fisher, Commander Zone 3 Pittsburgh Police.

Business owners in the area of the shooting told Channel 11 they turned over any surveillance video they had to police.
