MONROEVILLE, Pa. — A group of unsuspecting senior citizens were the beneficiaries of an anonymous stranger “paying it forward” Friday morning.
Eleven residents and two staff members from Independence Court of Monroeville were at the Bob Evans Restaurant on Route 22 in Monroeville Friday morning enjoying breakfast.

Director of Activities Sharon Jankovik says she had a conversation with a patron who observed the residents, and said they seemed unencumbered by wheelchairs and walkers.
“The lady I spoke with wanted my opinion about physical therapy and residences like outs and whether they, together, could realistically improve mobility for someone like this lady’s 85-year-old mother,” Jankovik said.
Later, Jankovik says she asked the waitress for the bill and was surprised to learn that another patron had paid the entire tab.
When Jankovik asked who paid so she could thank them, the waitress said the person preferred to remain anonymous.
