Child rushed to hospital after nearly drowning in tub

Police have confirmed to Channel 11's Pamela Osborne that a 1-year-old child nearly drowned in a bathtub Friday afternoon in the Hill District.

The child, who was in the care of a babysitter at the time, was rushed to Children's Hospital in serious condition, officials said.

Authorities at the scene on Hollace Street told Osborne the incident is likely accidental because the babysitter rode to the hospital with the child.

If foul play was suspected, police would not have let the babysitter go with the child.
