WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — Firefighters rushed to the scene of a large fire at a Westmoreland County industrial building Friday morning.
The CCF Kitchen Cabinet Company in Washington Township went up in flames around 6 a.m.
"I was scared for employees and worried about the owners," said neighbor Danielle Quidetto.
"I had to scream for my mom, saying, 'Come here. There's something going on.' After that, the roof fell in and an explosion came," said neighbor Mayron McKee.
The business had been there for 10 years.
Employee Dave Swartz told Channel 11's Brandon Hudson that he was inside the building moments before the fire erupted.
"We were up in the front of the building about ready to punch in and start work," Swartz said. "The whole building was going. It got big quick."
Fortunately, everyone made it out safely.
Part of the roof caved in, so firefighters stayed outside and hazmat crews monitored the air because of wood finisher and chemicals inside.
Kiski Area School District officials closed East Primary School Friday. It's located next to the business.
The fire is under investigation.
