The Pittsburgh Pirates and Bryan Reynolds have agreed to an eight-year, $106.75M extension that will keep the 2021 All-Star in Pittsburgh through at least 2030 and includes a team option for 2031.
The deal is pending a physical and includes modified no-trade protection and does not include any opt-outs. Reynolds, 28, and the Pirates had been negotiating an extension since the offseason.
When those talks hit an impasse, Reynolds requested to be traded from the organization. General manager Ben Cherington was adamant about Reynolds helping the Pirates since the initial request and both sides found enough common ground to ensure that wouldn’t happen.
