PENN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A Butler High School student died Saturday in a crash that injured two other teenagers in Butler County.
Ethan Linnon, 18, was killed in the single-vehicle crash early Saturday on Meridian Road in Penn Township. Two teenage girls, who were passengers, were taken to the hospital.

Police said the vehicle driven by Linnon went over the crest of the roadway and struck a tree before coming to rest in the woods. Speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
The conditions of the girls who were injured have not been released. A makeshift memorial of flowers was left at the scene.

As students returned to class for the first time since the accident, many wore Batman shirts as a tribute to Linnon. Batman was his favorite superhero.

According to a statement from the Butler Area School District, counseling services will for students and staff throughout the week.
"The death of Ethan is a tragedy for our entire school and community. Our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. We wish for the speedy recovery of Hannah Starcher and Nicole Fry, and offer sympathy and support to our students and staff who share this grief," said Dale Lumley, superintendent of Butler Area School District.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, and students who wish to attend will be excused from school.
