Butler teen killed in single-vehicle crash

SLIPPERY ROCK TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A 15-year-old male was killed in a crash Sunday in Slippery Rock Township.

The one-vehicle crash occurred around 6:15 p.m. Sunday in Slippery Rock Township, according to state police.

The teen, from Butler, was a passenger in a 2011 Honda Pilot SUV driven by a 17-year-old male.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Route 8 and Kiester Road.

The driver lost control while traveling north on the snow-covered road and hit a tree, according to a report. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver had minor injuries. He was taken to an area hospital by ambulance.

The state police reconstruction team responded and are investigating. The road was temporarily closed.
