Mercer County dispatchers said the crash happened in the 400 block of New Castle-Mercer Road at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The buggy appeared to have been knocked completely off the road and pushed into a nearby field.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, a Ford F-150XLT rear-ended the buggy, ejecting the buggy’s driver.

The driver, identified as 77-year-old Daniel Miller, from New Wilmington, landed in a field and was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries.

The two people in the Ford weren’t wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash but weren’t injured, state police said.

State police also said both the car and buggy sustained heavy damage.

The investigation is ongoing.
