CANONSBURG, Pa. — Police said a couple's car was stolen right in front of them as they were trying to rent a movie from Redbox at the Walgreens in Canonsburg.
"We rent movies every Sunday. This is not the first time we left our car running," said Nicole Pero and Josh Lemon.
Police said a woman jumped in Lemon's Hyundai Sonata and took off.
"I ran to the car and starting yanking on the driver's door handle. She put the car in reverse and dragged me a good few feet," said Pero.
The couple said their cellphones and work equipment were in the car.
"You wouldn't think it would happen at 2 p.m. on a Sunday," said Lemon.
Police said it happens all the time,
"There are people lurking around, just waiting to jump into a car. It only takes a couple seconds," Police Detective Al Coghill of Canonsburg police.
