• Thieves strike 3 restaurants in Hampton, Shaler

SHALER TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Three restaurants in Hampton and Shaler were burglarized sometime Sunday night or Monday morning, reported Channel 11's Dave Bondy.

China Bistro, Spadafora's and Casey's restaurants, located on Route 8, reported having cash stolen.

Shelly Niggl, the owner of Casey's Restaurant, said she was shocked when she received a call early Monday morning.

"Guardian Security called me about 4:20 in the morning. They said the motion in the back room went off and I came down and the police were already inside," Niggl said.

Niggl said money was taken from a cash register and the keypad to her alarm system was ripped from the wall.

"I'm very upset and nervous. But hopefully they get the guy," said Niggl. "Go get a job. Don't do it to independently owned businesses."

Police said they are looking at surveillance video to see if the burglars were caught on camera. Investigators said all three burglaries are similar and could be related.

Hampton and Shaler police continue to investigate.
