PITTSBURGH — Chatham University announced it has named Michael Braxton as its new vice president of advancement.

Braxton previously served as associate vice president for planned giving and major gifts at Duquesne University and was director of development at Pittsburgh Opera for six years. As vice president of advancement, Braxton will help oversee various donation and gift initiatives for the university. According to Chatham, Braxton specializes in major and planned giving, comprehensive campaigns, donor engagement and advancement strategy.

“Michael’s appointment comes at an exciting time for Chatham as we strengthen our commitment to our students, community, alumni and future,” said Chatham University President Lisa Lambert in a prepared statement. “His deep connections with the Pittsburgh community, combined with his experience and understanding of higher education philanthropy, make him an excellent addition to our leadership team. I look forward to the energy and experience he will bring to our efforts.”
