Officials said the man handed the bank teller a note and left with the cash in hand.
Officials told Channel 11 News that Peters Township police called to alert the Pleasant Hills department of a robbery suspect coming their way.
Southwest Regional police took the suspect into custody and transferred him back to Peters Township, according to officials. No one was hurt during the robbery or police chase.
Authorities identified the suspect as John Manning. Channel 11's Cara Sapida reported Wednesday that Manning confessed to two other bank robberies at Washington Financial Bank in Washington and a bank in Castle Shannon.
"Never did I threaten violence or intend to hurt anyone,” Manning told police, according to the criminal complaint. "I was desperate and trying to support a 30 to 75 bag a day heroin habit. I am sorry. An addiction to heroin will make a person do a lot of things they never thought they would."
Federal investigators are now taking over the case.
