Churchgoers run when man begins screaming, asks if they are Christians

SCOTT TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Families ran from a church in Scott Township when a man started screaming during Sunday services.

The incident happened at Our Lady of Grace church. A woman who was inside told Channel 11's Renee Kaminski about the scary moments.

"He was not leaving and he was yelling and screaming and swearing, so it was kind of frightening," the woman, who did not want to be identified, said.

The man who was screaming jumped out of his seat as he screamed from the balcony of the church.

"I heard somebody yelling from the balcony, screaming very loud," the woman said. "You have to sing, so at first I thought it was somebody from the church trying to get everybody to sing."

She said the most frightening moment for her came when the man asked if the people in the church were Christians.

"I don't know about other people, but it did me and the people who were sitting near me because I know that is what they were saying in Oregon, just had that mass shooting," she said.

She said parents were grabbing their children as they quickly exited the church, unsure whether the man posed a danger.

The man was eventually forced out.

"Gentlemen from the parish surrounded him and they were able to get him down the steps and outside," the woman said.
