Corps closes some recreation sites due to high water

PITTSBURGH — The Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District has been forced to close several recreation areas due to high water following recent rainfall.

Conemaugh Lake: Aultman's Run and Bow Ridge Boat Ramps closed and anticipated to remain closed throughout the holiday weekend.  For more information, call (724) 459-7240 or call the lake information number at (724) 639-3785.

Crooked Creek Lake: Tunnelville Beach and Crooked Creek Lake Boat Launch. Due to current high water and clean-up requirements, after the pool is returned to normal level both area closures are anticipated to last thru Sept 2. Loyalhanna Lake:  Bush Recreation Area (boat launch and campground) closed and anticipated to remain closed throughout the holiday weekend due to high water and clean-up requirement once lake returns to normal level.  For more information, call (724) 639-9013 or call the lake information number at (724) 639-3785.

Tygart Lake:  Doe Run Pleasant Creek Wildlife Management Area closed but could reopen by Sept.1. For more information, call (304) 265-1760 or call the lake information number at (304) 265-5953.

Youghiogheny Lake:  Mill Run Recreation Area; partial campground closure, beach and launch ramp, Jockey Hollow Boat Launch, Tub Run Campground; beach and walk-in tent sites, Spillway Recreation Area and beach. Visitors should contact their local recreation areas for status updates before traveling to the lakes. The Corps is urging all visitors to use extreme caution while on the lake during high water.
