Criminal complaint: Girl, 3, found in bathroom next to heroin

AMBRIDGE, Pa. — A mother and her boyfriend are facing several charges after police said they served a warrant at their Ambridge home and found a 3-year-old child within arm’s reach of heroin.

Beaver County sheriff’s deputies went to the Beaver Road home to serve a warrant on Betsy Basinger, police said.

Channel 11’s Amy Marcinkiewicz reported that once inside, investigators found the Basinger’s 3-year-old daughter standing next to heroin and a needle.

“We found the little girl in the bathroom and there were heroin stamp bags all around her,” Ambridge police Officer John Chickos said.

According to the criminal complaint, Basinger, who’s pregnant, also hid a purse with a hypodermic needle in the child’s dresser.

Police said Basinger’s boyfriend, Eric Hoo, was also inside the house at the time.

Basinger and Hoo are facing drug possession charges, the complaint said, and Basinger is also facing child endangerment charges.

The 3-year-old girl is in the custody of social services.
