PITTSBURGH — A nearly two-year modernization project has been completed by Duquesne Light two months ahead of schedule.
The construction of a five-mile 138-kilovolt transmission line between Penn Hills, Monroeville and Plum Borough began in August 2020 that included Boyce Park. It is part of the Universal-Plum-Cheswick reliability project that the utility said will increase reliability and electric demand in eastern Allegheny County.
Duquesne Light didn’t disclose the cost of the work, other than that it is part of a $3.1 billion spend on infrastructure throughout its system. Duquesne Light, based in Pittsburgh, serves 600,000 customers in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas.
