TURTLE CREEK, Pa. — A fugitive is in custody after he was found hiding under bags of old clothing in Turtle Creek on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office said D’Andre Freeman-Johnson, 24, of East Pittsburgh, was taken into custody after spending about a month on the run.

Freeman-Johnson was declared a fugitive on Sept. 21 after a bench warrant was issued for his arrest following alleged probation violations. He was serving that probation in connection with guilty pleas to aggravated assault and firearm charges. He was also wanted for an unrelated firearm charge filed out of the City of Pittsburgh.

Detectives received information Wednesday morning saying Freeman-Johnson was at a house on Highland Avenue in Turtle Creek.

Authorities were allowed inside the house after knocking on the door and announcing themselves.

Freeman-Johnson was found under those clothes bags in the back corner of a small room.

He was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Allegheny County Jail.
