Elandon Roberts reveals what drove him to return to Steelers

Elandon Roberts might tell you to appreciate your surroundings more. Having re-joined the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday night, the thumper inside linebacker reflected in a familiar space before getting back on the St. Vincent College practice fields on Saturday.

Roberts recognizes that being part of the Steelers is a unique feel.

“I was in the dorm room last night and I was just kinda looking up at the walls,” said Roberts, who started 29 games over those two campaigns in Pittsburgh, racking up 147 total tackles. “I was enjoying it. Sometimes being in certain places, I was here for two years so I was like, ‘Oh, man, we gotta be in the dorms.’ When I got back, I was like, ‘Yeah, (this is nice).’”

Roberts reunites with Steelers defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, who worked with the Raiders in the same capacity the past four seasons. Head coach Mike McCarthy knew of Roberts through reputation, but saw the credibility he has with the team on Friday night.
