Elderly man accused of shooting at Somerset County home

SOMERSET, Pa. — An 82-year-old man is facing several charges after police said he shot at a Somerset home Saturday morning.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Richard Livengood arrived at a home on Shade Hollow Road in Elk Lick Township around 9 a.m. with a .22 caliber rifle.

Investigators said Livengood unsuccessfully tried to enter the locked home by using force. He then went to a kitchen window and pointed the rifle into the home.

Police said Livengood then walked to the front of the home and fired one round through the glass portion of the front door.

By this time, police arrived at the scene and took Livengood into custody. No injuries were reported by the shot.

Livengood was charged with aggravated assault, attempted burglary, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment. He was placed in the Somerset County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bond.
