None — EAST ALLEGHENY, Pa. -- Firefighters were on the scene of a massive blaze Saturday morning on the North Side that damaged five row houses.
Officials said the flames started at a vacant three-story row house on Tripoli Street around 10 a.m. and quickly spread to adjacent houses.
According to firefighters, the house where they believe the fire started suffered a partial collapse. The extent of the damage is unknown.
Crews were able to get the fire under control in about an hour, officials said.
“We had a couple anxious moments,” Pittsburgh Battalion Chief Dan Hennessy said. “We’ve already called the Red Cross to come to the scene to see how much they can help.
No injuries were reported in the blaze.
“It’s heartbreaking and scary to see this,” Kathleen Toomey said. Toomey was forced to leave her house during the blaze.
“It’s kind of crazy waking up to it,” an anonymous neighbor said. “I ran out of my house and forgot my medication this morning.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The American Red Cross has confirmed it is assisting four adults with food, clothing and shelter.
