A gag order has been issued in the case of the man charged with killing UPMC doctor Dr. Idris Evans and seriously injuring his wife inside their Edgewood home.
Allegheny County Judge Edward J. Borkowski issued the order on Monday, according to court documents.
Elijah Hemingway, 32, is charged in the violent stabbing attack on Sept. 24. He is facing multiple charges, including criminal homicide, aggravated assault, burglary and criminal trespass.

Evans, who was a pediatric critical care physician at Children’s Hospital and an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh, died at a hospital. His wife, Gina Evans, was released from the hospital last week.
Hemingway is also charged in connection with the reported sexual assault of a woman in neighboring Wilkinsburg about 14 hours earlier.
With the gag order, prosecutors, defense attorneys and other people involved in Hemingway’s case are prohibited from speaking about the case outside of court. Officials said such motions are typical in high-profile cases to help prevent potential jurors from being influenced by public information.
