MERCER, Pa. — A vehicle struck a group of students waiting at a bus stop in Mercer County Wednesday.
Mercer Borough Police Chief Bob Davis told NBC affiliate WFMJ that a car and SUV crashed around 7:30 a.m. after one of them crossed the center line of West Butler Street near Maple Street.
One of the vehicles went off the road and hit a group of six students who were waiting for a school bus, WFMJ reports.
Five people were injured, Davis said, but only three were hospitalized with minor injuries: an adult and two juveniles, one of whom was driving one of the vehicles.
It’s unclear if anyone involved in the crash will be cited. Davis told WFMJ that the report is still being completed.
The crash happened about two blocks away from Mercer Area School District.
Mercer Area School District Superintendent Ronald Rowe told WFMJ that his thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.
