WEST DEER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A weapon was found at Deer Lakes High School on Monday.
A statement shared by Superintendent Dr. Beth A. Hutson said the district immediately followed protocol after the weapon was found.
Hutson said there was no threat to students or staff members during the incident.
Citing privacy laws, Hutson said the individuals involved cannot be identified. The parents and guardians of the students affected by the incident have been contacted.
“The safety and security of our students and staff remain our highest priorities. The District is committed to maintaining a safe, secure and supportive learning environment for every member of our school community,” Hutson said.
It is not clear at this time if charges will be filed.
This story has been updated to show that a “weapon” was found at Deer Lakes High School Monday. School officials say that weapon was not a gun.
