Heavy rain, lightning possible during Wednesday evening storms

PITTSBURGH — It is warmer and much more humid today as temperatures climb toward the mid-80s. A few showers and storms remain possible later this afternoon, with heavy rain and lightning the primary threats.

We’ll see a threat for more numerous storms overnight as a stronger disturbance pushes through. Much like today, widespread severe weather is not expected, although don’t be surprised if you hear some thunder, heavy rainfall or some gusty winds during the early morning hours Thursday.

Much of the shower and storm coverage will push south of the Mason-Dixon line Thursday afternoon, with drier air pouring in at night and going into Friday.

Unfortunately, the dry weather won’t follow us completely into the weekend, with an increased threat of showers and storms Saturday night and off and on again on Sunday. Unsettled weather could bleed into the first half of next week with temperatures staying slightly above average.
