None — PITTSBURGH -- A recently conducted study showed that cellphones have 18 times more germs than a toilet handle.
Channel 11’s Jennifer Abney investigated ways to keep cellphones clean.
“The London School of Hygiene found that one in six cellphones had traces of fecal matter on it,” Editor-in-Chief of PCMAG.com Dan Costa said.
“Costa said one of the easiest ways to try and keep your cellphone cleaner is to carry wipes.
“There are also wireless wipes that come in a variety of different aromas,” Costa said.
Costa also showed Abney the “CyberClean” cleaning compound.
“It looks like giant silly putty, but the great thing about it is you can mold it into your electronics,” Costa said. “If you have a keyboard, you can mold it into your keyboard, pull it right back off and it kills all the bacteria, dust, dirt and grime that gets caught between your keys.”
Another option is a vio-light ultraviolet light sanitizer used for cellphones and other electronic devices.
“It takes about two minutes but you can use it for any device that fits,” Costa said. “After a couple of waves, you should kill about 99.9 percent of the germs.”
The light sanitizer costs about $50.
