Jerry Sandusky sends several letters from prison, says ‘I'm trying to get better'

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky has been writing letters from prison and said he is “trying to get better.”

TMZ.com obtained copies of the letters that maintain his innocence.

The website reported that in one letter dated May 19, Sandusky writes, "It was very kind of you to write me, and I appreciate it very much."

Sandusky is serving a 30- to 60-year jail sentence. He was convicted for molesting several young boys.

In the letter obtained by TMZ.com, Sandusky defends himself saying, “I’ve written and continue to write my account of what happened. I would feel better if we could reveal all the information and unfairness. My plan is to continue this battle until the last whistle blows.”

Sandusky makes no mention of any accusations against him, but does say, “I must also fight my personal battles to learn from, grow from and endure the circumstances. I’m trying to get better.”

While Sandusky is serving his jail time, Penn State’s bill to pay costs related to the child sex-abuse scandal is nearing $48 million.
