Callery resident Matt Turner escorted Marcinkiewicz deep into the woods in this Butler County community to get a look at the issue first hand.
Marcinkiewicz reported hearing a loud hissing sound coming from a gas line and, upon getting closer, could smell the gas leaking.
“If it ignites, it could catch everything on fire around here,” Turner said.
That’s why Marcinkiewicz called Peoples Natural Gas from the scene and even emailed the company a video documenting the problem.
The company responded quickly and said it was sending a crew to rectify the problem immediately.
A representative also thanked Channel 11 for bringing the matter to the company’s attention.
This isn’t the first time there’s been a problem at the scene.
Turner said he’s called the company several times before and they’ve come out to fix the problem.
He also said Wednesday’s incident was the worst he’s ever seen the pipe leaking, and said Channel 11’s story helped stop a dangerous situation.
