PITTSBURGH — Last week, Penguins center Evgeni Malkin reeled in some major awards at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas, winning both the Hart Trophy for MVP, as voted on by the writers, and the Ted Lindsay Award for MVP as voted on by NHL players.
Well, Malkin has reeled in some other “trophies.” On his Twitter page, Malkin posted pictures from a fishing trip, including a picture of a hammerhead shark that he caught.
In nature, the shark normally gets the Penguin, but this time, the Penguin got the shark!
Last season, Malkin scored 50 goals and dished out 59 assists to lead the Penguins in points for the second straight year, and Malkin’s coach, Dan Bylsma, a participant in the Senior Players Championship Pro-Am at Fox Chapel Golf Club, talked to Channel 11’s Rich Walsh about the possibility of getting Malkin a new linemate.
"There are a few really good players that would look good in Pittsburgh Penguins uniforms. We'll see what July 1 brings," Bylsma said.
The Penguins cleared some cap space with their draft-day trades.
