ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — A man is facing charges after he was accused of strangling a one-year-old in Aliquippa.
The City of Aliquippa Police Department said officers were called to the Eleanor Roosevelt Apartments Monday at 10:18 a.m.
Multiple witnesses at the scene told police that Darryl Watkins, 60, choked and hit a one-year-old, officials said. The child also had marks that were consistent with what was reported.
Watkins was taken into custody at the scene.
Once at the police station, Watkins tried to fight with officers, officials said. During the struggle, he put a hole in a wall and damaged a computer.
Watkins is charged with strangulation, endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, institutional vandalism, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment.
