Man gets 61 to 122 years for 2012 rapes in Hopewell, Ross Twp.

ROSS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man was sentenced Tuesday to 61-122 years for raping and robbing two women outside their Ross Township apartments last year.

Arthur Henderson chose to represent himself in court last month. It took a jury less than three hours to convict him of the crimes that happened within three days of each other in January 2012.

Henderson, 39, was also found guilty of a similar attack in Hopewell Township.

Overall Henderson was charged with 60 counts, including multiple counts of rape; aggravated, sexual and indecent assault; robbery; burglary; false imprisonment; unlawful restraint; and criminal trespass.

“I thought the victims were absolutely amazing. They showed such courage, grace and dignity in such an undignified situation,” Assistant District Attorney Laura Ditka said. “They did more description than I could ever do. I think the sentence is fair and just -- he’ll never get out.”

Channel 11’s Jodine Costanzo reported that Henderson didn’t react when the sentence was read. She said he seemed disinterested and removed.
