Man killed, another injured in Mercer County crash

PINE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man was killed, and another was injured in a crash Thursday in Mercer County.

The crash happened at 7:48 p.m. in the 1000 block of Barkeyville Road in Pine Township, according to a Pennsylvania State Police report.

A Subaru Outback was heading east when it slowed down to make a left turn.

A GMC Acadia heading west reportedly hit the Subaru, which spun into the eastbound lane.

The GMC crashed into a ditch and through a yard before landing on its side.

The Subaru’s driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police say. The GMC’s driver was pronounced dead on scene.

Neither driver was wearing their seatbelt at the time, according to the report.

The GMC’s driver was identified as Andrew R. Elder, 39, of Mercer.
