Man killed in East Liberty shooting; Police seek gunman

EAST LIBERTY, Pa. — Pittsburgh police said they are searching for two men seen running from the scene of a deadly shooting in East Liberty late Sunday night.

According to police, the shooting happened just before midnight on North Negley Avenue.

Investigators said a man was found dead in a nearby courtyard with a gunshot wound to his torso. The medical examiner identified the victim as 37-year-old Lou Auer.

Witnesses told police that two black men were seen running from the scene.

People who live nearby said they're scared, especially for the dozens of children who live in the neighborhood.

"For someone to be dead right in front of the building is just crazy," said one resident. "It's very sad. There are lots of kids around here."

Police have not said what led to the shooting or if the shooters knew Auer. So far, no arrests have been made.
