PITTSBURGH — A man previously convicted of robbery was sentenced for carrying a gun in Pittsburgh’s South Side.
Jayvon Turner, 24, of Beaver Falls, was sentenced to serve over 7 years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release on Thursday.
Pittsburgh Police and members of the ATF said they found him with a stolen semi-automatic handgun in the South Side in Aug. 2025. Since he was previously convicted of a state robbery charge, it is a federal crime for him to carry a gun or ammunition.
Turner’s arrest came as part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods program, which is designed to have law enforcement from different communities work together to reduce gun violence and crimes.
