MT. LEBANON, Pa. — Police have arrested one of three suspects accused of shooting a man inside a Mt. Lebanon apartment building late Thursday night.
Investigators said neighbors called 911 after hearing multiple shots fired inside the building on McFarland Road.
The victim, later identified as 29-year-old Jason Collins, was shot in the stomach and was found lying in the hallway when police arrived. He was rushed to UPMC Mercy Hospital, where he’s listed in stable condition and could be released soon.
During a morning news conference, police said three men went to Collins’ apartment to rob him of drugs.
“A confrontation took place and it eventually led to a physical confrontation that resulted in the gunfire,” said Aaron Lauth, of the Mt. Lebanon Police.
Investigators said one of the three men, Juawane Dennison, was arrested Friday afternoon. Dennison, who worked with Collins at McDonald’s, is facing several charges, including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, robbery and burglary.
Investigators said they are still working to identify two other people who were with Dennison at the time of the shooting.
Channel 11’s Cara Sapida reported the last attempted homicide in Mt. Lebanon was in 2006, and the time before that was 2001.
