PITTSBURGH — A man who shot a 92-year-old jitney driver several times was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison Monday.

Police said a man sitting next to Swinton was the intended target.

Authorities said although Swinton was shot several times, he kept driving until he collapsed near Frankstown Avenue in Homewood.

Haddock was arrested on gun and drug-related charges a day before is trial was set to begin. The sentence imposed by the judge Monday also covers those offenses.

Haddock told the judge Monday that he was sorry.

"I believe that we have to start sentencing people based on their ability to be rehabilitated. Jason… has taken some strides towards that," Haddock's attorney Milton Raiford said.

Swinton, who is now 94 years old, was not in court but he told the judge he forgives Haddock.
