McKees Rocks neighbors concerned about growing trash pile

MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. — Some neighbors in McKees Rocks fear a pile of garbage that has been growing near their homes for the past month is going to cause a rat infestation.

"Yes, it is very, very bad - very, very bad. It might bring the rats back, and we don't want that. We don't need that," said Adrian Washington, a resident at the apartment complex where the garbage hasn’t been picked up for an entire month.

Neighbors said the disposal service hasn’t picked up trash at the complex, but the company’s owner said it’s not his fault because the owner of the building won’t move an abandoned Cadillac in front of the dumpster.

Brunner Disposal said that as long as the car is there, a garbage truck can’t get into White Alley to pick up the trash.

According to Brunner Disposal, NJIB is the owner of the building but managed by Keller Williams Real Estate.

Kim Baker with Keller Williams Real Estate management said they’re working with McKees Rocks Mayor Jack Muhr to get the sedan out of the driveway.

Meanwhile, those living near the pile of trash are growing tired of waiting for it to be removed.

"I'm glad it ain't hot out here,” said Washington. “It would be smelling real bad out here, too.”
