GROVE CITY, Pa. — Two women accused of endangering the welfare of children are facing new charges after an incident in the courtroom.

NBC affiliate WFMJ reports that Pamela McDevitt, 59, and Paige McDevitt, 23, are co-defendants and were in court for a hearing Wednesday.

In a criminal complaint, state police claim that Pamela McDevitt dropped a breath mint box passed to her by Paige McDevitt.

The box allegedly contained two brown pills, which police only described as a controlled substance.

Both women, who were handcuffed and in jumpsuits at the time, were already facing charges after police found a baby living in “filthy conditions” in a Jackson Center home, WFMJ reports.

The two now face additional drug possession charges.
