Mercer Area School District has determined a reported “hit list” is not a credible threat.
The district received two threats referring to a student-created ‘hit list’ at the Middle-High School through the district’s Safe2Say Anonymous Reporting System, and canceled Wednesday classes in order to look into the threats.
The Mercer Borough police chief confirmed to Channel 11 Wednesday his department was investigating.
The district announced that law enforcement determined that no credible threat exists and that all classes and activities will resume today. As an additional precaution, though, increased law enforcement will be at the school. Middle and high school school students will not be permitted to carry bookbags during the day. Students can bring bags to school but will be required to put them in lockers during the day, according to the district.
