New development ‘The Standard on Fifth’ offers affordable housing option in Pittsburgh’s Uptown

PITTSBURGH — A new affordable housing option will soon be available in Pittsburgh’s Uptown neighborhood.

Dubbed “The Standard on Fifth,” the project transformed a historic building into a mixed housing complex along Fifth Avenue.

The development offers 51 units, including 40 affordable apartments and 17 voucher units through the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh (HACP).

Plus, the five-story building is all-electric to promote energy efficiency, and it sits along the new bus rapid transit line.

“When we are building a community to provide quality opportunities for everyone to live in that community, right here is a prime example of what that project is all about, and what other projects should be all about,” Pittsburgh Mayor Corey O’Connor said during a grand opening ceremony Thursday.
