Man remains in critical condition after house explosion in Brentwood

BRENTWOOD, Pa. — A man remains in critical condition Friday after his house exploded in Brentwood Thursday afternoon.

Chopper 11 flew over the scene on Tuxey Avenue. Neighbors said the explosion could be felt throughout the area.

The blast was so strong it blew out front windows and rocked the foundation of Frank Mihalovich’s home.

Channel 11’s Dave Bondy reported that Mihalovich operates a licensed gun shop out of the basement of the home. Investigators said he was walking up the steps when the explosion happened and he was able to get out of the home himself.

“He just walked really slow. I don’t know if it was because of the ice or if he was shook up,” one neighbor said.
Neighbors said Mihalovich is a former police officer and the founder of Brentwood EMS.
Firefighters said they were forced to evacuate when the back of the home began to collapse. No other injuries were reported. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
