ONLY ON 11: Mom says daughter repeatedly groped, inappropriately touched at school

PITTSBURGH — A parent has filed a police report and says she's pressing charges after several boys allegedly groped and touched her 13-year-old daughter at school.

The mother tells Channel 11's Courtney Brennan that the inappropriate touching allegedly happened several times over the past three weeks.

"It's not like random little touching in the hallway, these are serious touches in the classroom,” the mother said.

She says she spoke to the principal at Linton Middle School and the superintendent about it.

“The boy would grab her with his left arm and take his right hand and cup her butt and squeeze. This is not an accident, this is deliberate,” she said.

According to the woman, her daughter wasn't the only girl who was touched.

"They were grabbing them on their butt, grabbing their breasts, coming up and grabbing them around the neck,” she said.

She says the Penn Hills School District did not protect her daughter and the touching kept happening, so she called police.

The woman says her daughter is now traumatized and hasn't gone back to school since last week.

"You don't think of something happening like this. And when you do have to endure it, you think this is a priority, we need to protect this child -- we need to make her feel normal and safe instead of secluded and the bad person,” the mother said.

Dr. Nancy J. Hines, superintendent of Penn Hills School District, sent Channel 11 News the following statement Tuesday:

"Several of our administrators have met recently with this particular parent to review her concerns.  The parent has notified us that she has also filed a police report in this regard.  The District has initiated its own investigation and will cooperate fully with Penn Hills Police as they continue their investigation.  Appropriate action will be taken in accordance with District policy and procedures based on the results of these open investigations."
