None — NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. -- A missing Penn State New Kensington student has been found.
Investigators said Chad Evaniuk, 19, of Tarentum, was last seen Tuesday morning when he left his house and headed to Penn State New Kensington, where he was a student.
Channel 11's Cara Sapida reported that Evanuik walked into Forbes Regional Hospital around 9 p.m. Tuesday night.
Hospital officials said Evanuik appeared to be disoriented and gave nurses a different name. Sapida reported that another nurse recognized Evanuik and alerted police.
According to police, Evanuik used his ATM card at bank machines in Arkansas and Missouri. They said they know it wasn’t stolen because surveillance video showed him making the transactions.
Authorities said they have no idea how or why Evanuik traveled across the country and back. They said they are still trying to locate Evanuik’s car.
Frazer police later identified Evanuik and notified his parents.
Kristin Alvarez, a friend of the Evanuik family, said the situation sounds out of character for Chad, who never even missed class.
“I heard he was disoriented and using a false name,” Alvarez said. “That leads me to believe someone drugged him.”
Police said Evanuik had no signs of injury. He remains at Forbes Regional Hospital for evaluation.
