Channel 11's Trisha Pittman met with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation officials after their annual information meeting to find out what road closures can be expected throughout the spring and summer.
There will be $280 million worth of highway and bridge repairs getting underway this year, one of the largest being the Parkway West.
"Now that we have traffic configured into the temporary lanes, the contractor is going to be working continuously on rebuilding the bridge decks through the Carnegie Interchange,” said Dan Cessna, district executive for PennDOT engineering District 11.
PennDOT is spending $73 million working on the Parkway West project.
Though the Liberty tubes and bridge have seen an increase in drivers from recent work on the Fort Pitt Tunnel and Parkway, they will be seeing construction soon, as well.
The Liberty Bridge is due for an $85 million rehabilitation set to take place over the next three years, with some of the work beginning this summer.
According to PennDOT, that construction will not take place at the same time as the work on the Parkway.
"We will have some overnight restrictions, we will have some weekend restrictions, but they'll be closely coordinated with the Parkway West," said Cessna.
Other projects on PennDOT’s agenda include improvements on the ramps to and from the Parkway North and Route 28, continued bridge work on the Hulton, Birmingham and Glenwood bridges, and a major project at West Carson Street.
The project at West Carson Street is expected to produce single lane restrictions until April 2016.
