After posting a 13-20 record last season, the Pitt men’s basketball program underwent a major makeover. Ninth-year head coach Jeff Capel collected 11 transfers, infusing the Panthers with a certain measure of experience.

Six new Pitt players have made stops elsewhere in the ACC. How future Panthers squads are assembled could reflect this one, being that Capel is enjoying not having to build players from the ground up.

“When you get guys that have been in college, they’re a little bit more advanced,” Capel said during a press conference at the Petersen Events Center on Tuesday. “They’re coming from similar programs, so the terminology may be a little bit different, but they understand what you’re saying. Maybe the previous place where they were, their ball screen coverage, the title of it, the tag was different. Here it may be blue, at their place it could’ve been white. But it’s the same thing, so they just have to get up to speed with that. But they know how to do it already because they’ve been coached, so I like that part of it.”
