Warrant issued for man police say tried to lure a child into his car

PITTSBURGH — A man is wanted tonight after Pittsburgh Police say he tried to lure a girl into his car.

Raequan Troutman, 21, is accused of trying to get the 10-year-old girl into his car while she waited for the school bus in the morning on October 5.

This happened at Woodlow and Crucible Streets in the city’s Crafton Heights neighborhood. It’s home to dozens of families and kids who live at the Mountain View housing complex. It’s also just blocks away from Pittsburgh Classical Academy.

The 10-year-old girl told police she was waiting at the bus stop when a man now identified as Raequan Troutman pulled up to her not once, but twice in his black Dodge Durango. She told police he asked her for a ride and circled the area. Police say surveillance video from the area corroborates her story.

Within days, detectives went to Troutman’s home. According to court documents, he told police the Durango is his dad’s and that “he was not driving the vehicle at the time of the incident.” Police say he also told them he “could not provide any names of who may have been driving at the time.”

According to court documents, police say the girl was able to identify Troutman in a photo array. When asked how certain she was, police say she answered “100 percent.”

Neighbors say they’ll be keeping a closer eye on kids in the area.

“Teach them what to do - yell, scream, run,” Judith Spagnolo tells Channel 11.

Now that a warrant has been issued, this woman had this to say to Troutman.

“You need to turn yourself in and take accountability for what you’ve done.”
