Pittsburgh-area shoppers head out for Black Friday deals

The holiday shopping season is underway and shoppers were up bright and early to cash in on Black Friday deals.

Some people lined up outside the North Hills Village Best Buy in Ross Township waiting for it to open at 5 am.

Others waited a little longer to hit the Mall at Robinson.

They were all on the hunt for big savings.

“[There are] a lot of good bargains today,” said Gregory Henniquan from Allison Park.

Whether shopping for themselves or others, big ticket electronics or clothes and jewelry, shoppers say Black Friday is all about sharing the experience with their friends and family.

“We’ve done it the last couple of years and it’s fun, as a group of friends, we all come out and do it,” said Nick Bender from South Fayette, who was shopping at Best Buy.

“It’s fun,” said Ryan Lydon from Armstrong County, who was at the Mall at Robinson. “[You] get some good deals, save some money, have a good time.”

Amid rising costs and inflation, some people are being forced to stretch their budgets this holiday season.

But that’s not stopping some shoppers, like Henniquan, from spoiling his grandchildren this Christmas.

“I don’t worry about anything,” he said. “It’s just a part of life.”
