PITTSBURGH — More than 26,000 runners from 49 states and 15 countries participated in Pittsburgh Marathon events this weekend.
Events included the Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, the UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon, FedEx Ground Pittsburgh Marathon Relay, UPMC Sports Medicine/UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh 5K Run and Toyota of Pittsburgh Kids Marathon.

The start of the race was on Liberty Avenue. Runners crossed five bridges – the 16th Street, 9th Street, 7th Street, West End and Birmingham bridges.
Participants took on a redesigned course. Marathon officials said the new course showcased the city, maximized the runner experience and catered to the larger field of runners.
