PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Water and Partner4Work marked the conclusion of their third Pre-Apprenticeship Bridge to Careers (ABC) cohort for 2026 on Thursday.

A group of around 15 ABC participants gathered at Pittsburgh Water’s Aspinwall campus to receive their certificates on Oct. 1. Jennifer Martin, Partner4Work chief business engagement officer, said ABC was a success this summer.

“It’s gone really, really well. The infrastructure of our water system for the area really is the invisible infrastructure,” Martin said. “People just turn on the water, expect it to come out clean and working. But there are really entire crews and hundreds of people that go into making that happen, and so it’s just an incredible opportunity for these participants to get to see how that comes to life and see what careers are a good step to a family-sustaining wage, a future career for themselves.”

Martin explained the program involved spending 10 hours for three days at Pittsburgh Water facilities. During that time, participants got to network and experience the whole process of an active construction site, both in a classroom setting and in the field.
